Befriender – Unpaid Carers

Befriender provide emotional support to unpaid carers. They offer a listening ear and companionship, helping to reduce social isolation and improve their confidence.

Volunteering as a befriender to an unpaid carer provides essential emotional support and companionship. Many unpaid carers experience social isolation due to their demanding responsibilities. As a befriender, your role is to offer a listening ear and a friendly face. You can meet for a coffee, have a chat on the phone, or go for a walk. These simple acts of connection help to reduce loneliness, relieve stress, and improve the carer's overall well-being. By offering your time, you give the carer a much-needed break from their duties and help them feel valued and understood.
