Pollokshaws Parish Church runs a friendly “Nearly New” shop with an attached community café. Together they offer affordable items, tasty snacks, and a warm welcome to local people. We’re looking for volunteers who’d enjoy helping in either or both spaces.
Purpose
Support a low-cost shop and community café so local families and neighbours can find affordable goods, enjoy refreshments, and feel part of a caring community.
What you’ll do
• Welcome customers into the shop and café, have a friendly chat, signpost to other services
• Serve at the till, handle simple sales, make up bags
• Help prepare or serve hot drinks and snacks (no cooking skills needed — training given)
• Clear and reset tables, keep both areas clean and inviting
• Sort, price and display donated items, rotate stock, and refresh displays
• Receive donations and check quality
• Optional extras: take photos for social media, simple mending/upcycling, seasonal decorations or pop-up stalls
