Lived Experience Representative for Leg Ulcer Guideline

The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) is currently recruiting lived experience representatives to join our multidisciplinary group responsible for developing the updated guideline on the management of leg ulcers

SIGN makes sense of evidence. We respond to the needs of the people of Scotland by involving them to create trusted evidence-based guidance to support decision-making. We collaborate with health and social care professionals, patient organisations and individuals to produce evidence-based guidelines. We systematically review the scientific literature to aid the translation of new knowledge into action.

A guideline on this topic was issued in 2010 and has since then been withdrawn. The guideline provided evidence-based recommendations on the management of chronic venous leg ulcers including: assessment; treatment; prevention of recurrence; provision of care; and a checklist for provision of information. This topic has been accepted onto SIGN’s 2025/26 work programme.

We are seeking individuals with lived experience of leg ulcers to contribute their valuable perspectives to this important work. Your insights will help ensure the guideline reflects the real-world needs and experiences of patients. If you are interested in contributing or would like to learn more, we would be delighted to discuss this opportunity with you.
