Volunteer Board Members

EDVA is the Third Sector interface (TSI) for East Dunbartonshire. TSI’s will work with all third sector organisations operating in our local area. The third sector includes all voluntary and community based organisations, social enterprises and co-operatives which are non-profit making bodies. They range in size from large UK national organisations to Scotland wide entities down to small local community groups, associations and self-help groups.
The main purpose of TSIs is to provide support, help, expertise and assistance to third sector organisations and community groups by providing a single point of contact for such organisations and groups.
The main responsibility of the board is governance: to ensure we run efficiently, that our funds are spent wisely, to monitor the progress of the work of the organisation and to make sure that as the organisation grows, it continues to meet the needs of the Third Sector in East Dunbartonshire.
We are keen to hear from anyone who has experience in finance, business or management, either now or in the past.
The Committee members’ roles could include:
Holding the position of Office Bearer
Representing the Community they serve
To be open and accountable to the public
To ensure the organisation operates within its rules and within the law
To enter into any agreements on behalf of the organisation
To authorise the payment of expenses to any group members in accordance with the organisation’s rules
To decide which organisations, if any, they should affiliate to
To decide who should be co-opted as members of the committee/Board
To ensure information is passed to all the members of the organisation
To conduct the organisation’s affairs to the highest standard
To organise the Annual General Meeting in line with the organisation’s constitution
