Could YOU be the Driving Force for our community?
For 20 years, The Driving Force has been a lifeline for cancer patients in Denny, Bonnybridge and Banknock. We provide FREE transport to vital treatment appointments for those who need it most.
Our Impact:
• 20 years of continuous community service
• Hundreds of cancer patients supported
• Thousands of journeys to life-saving appointments
• 100% volunteer-driven organisation
Every journey we provide is one more chance for someone to access the treatment that could save their life. Now we need more strategic leaders to help us drive our mission forward.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
The most important thing? A passion for our mission and a commitment to making a difference.
We're looking for diverse perspectives and complementary skills. You don't need to tick every box – we value a range of backgrounds and experiences and are currently looking to strengthen our board with trustees who have experience in; change management, fundraising and income generation, healthcare or social care sector, legal or governance expertise.
But don't let this stop you applying if you have other valuable skills to offer!
WHY BECOME A TRUSTEE?
Being a trustee isn't just about attending meetings – it's about making a real difference at a strategic level. You'll help shape the future of a charity that directly saves lives in your community.
What You'll Gain:
• Personal satisfaction of creating strategic community impact
• Development of governance and leadership skills
• Networking with other passionate community leaders
• Insight into charity sector operations and best practices
• The knowledge that your decisions help cancer patients access life-saving treatment
• Being part of something meaningful beyond your day job
You'll be part of a supportive board working collaboratively to govern The Driving Force effectively.
WHAT IS A TRUSTEE?
In simple terms: Trustees are the guardians of our charity – ensuring we stay true to our mission of helping cancer patients access treatment while managing our resources responsibly and planning for sustainable growth.
The legal bit: Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it's doing what it was set up to do. They exercise their powers and duties with care, always acting in the charity's best interests, ensuring compliance with charity law and our governing document.
Experience required
We are looking for someone with experience of being involved in organisations and working in a team. Ideally, we would like someone with experience in fundraising, but this is not essential.
We would like someone who lives in the local area who really wants to help local people.
Travel details
Board meetings are held in the Bonnybridge area - other tasks can be done from home.
Travel expenses
Travel expenses are not available for this role.
Support
Training details
Trustees are given a trustee pack explaining the role and responsibilities and speak to our chair about what the role involves and how they feel they can benefit the charity before being put forward as a trustee. This helps to ensure, as far as possible, that the position is right for them and for us before they are accepted as a possible trustee.
If they needed training in a particular area we would try to arrange this. They would have the support of the rest of the committee, especially the chair.
