Volunteer Intergenerational Community Connector

Join GWT in its vision to live in a Scotland where generations are more connected and help us on our mission to develop, expand and improve intergenerational practice across Scotland. If you would like to get more involved in intergenerational working, learn more about the practice and help grow intergenerational relationships in your local area this is the volunteering role for you. Let's work together and help create more intergenerational communities.

As a volunteer Intergenerational Community Connector for GWT core tasks include
*Supporting one of our development team in planning and facilitating 2 – 3 network meetings a year in your local area.
*Raising awareness of the benefits of intergenerational practice within your local network.
*Sharing and promoting current GWT network meetings, events, publications, and training .
*Connecting with your local community and encourage organisations and groups to share their intergenerational projects with their local network and GWT.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to further develop their own knowledge and understanding of intergenerational practice through training as well as attending other GWT events and keep abreast of developments in the intergenerational field.


Experience required

An interest in bringing different generations together.
Excellent communication skills and good organisational skills.
Experience of networking in the community and forging connections would be beneficial.

Travel details

Community Connectors volunteer within their geographical network.
Connectors can also attend the annual Scottish conference and other local events such as Learning Roadshows.

Travel expenses

45p per mile for use of own car, this is reimbursed monthly.

Support
Training details

Induction of the role from GWT.
One to one support with a named GWT employee.
Free access to a wide range of training, both online and in person to develop greater knowledge and understanding of intergenerational practice.

2-3 hours per month (not in the school holidays). All help is greatly appreciated.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
