Group Volunteer Scotland In Person (Adult Group- Forres, Scotland)

Our branch and groups provide invaluable support to autistic people and their families in our local area, and this role will help with that.

What you will be doing
Support the planning and hosting of group meetings and activities
Work as part of a small team with other group volunteers
Attend in-person at the venue for the group to support an autism friendly session, provide a friendly face to those coming along and help make sure everyone can engage in a safe manner.
Help with the set up and clearing away before and after the session
Help with hospitality (making tea/ coffee/ etc)
Keep your Group Leader informed about group activities and events
Support the groups’ compliance with NAS policies including risk assessment, data protection and safeguarding
Raise the profile of the NAS within your group and local community.
Other group tasks that may arise within the group.

Experience required

Have patience, empathy and warmth and be able to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge and experience of autism
Reliable and punctual
Able to communicate with group attendees, other volunteers and the Group Leader
Able to communicate with group attendees, other volunteers and the Group Leader
Able to handle situations sensitively and involve the Group Leader or Branch Chair where necessary.
Confident in sending and receiving emails and able to use Microsoft Teams
