Roles are flexible and can be short-term or ongoing, depending on what suits you. You might help someone regain the confidence to return to a group they once loved, show someone how to shop online or manage everyday tasks, or simply offer a friendly chat to ease loneliness.
You could also be part of a team that checks in now and then on people living alone and at risk of falls – only when needed – offering reassurance and a sense of safety. It’s a role that fits easily alongside other enjoyable ways to support your community.
These small, everyday actions make a big difference – helping people feel safe, happy, and able to live life on their own terms.
Our volunteer-led service has supported adults with low-level needs for over 14 years, working in partnership with NHS Grampian and social care teams. Volunteers add something special – a friendly face, a bit of time, and a helping hand – like the good neighbour every community needs.
