Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice
- VO104503
The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice provides compassionate, specialist care for people with life-limiting illnesses across Glasgow, supported by a network of 17 charity shops that help fund their vital services. To keep these shops safe, welcoming, and fully functional, the hospice relies on the support of skilled maintenance volunteers who can offer practical expertise when small repairs or upkeep tasks arise. By giving a little of your time and trade knowledge, you’ll help ensure the shops continue to raise the funds that make hospice care possible.
About the Role
We’re looking for skilled and accredited maintenance volunteers to support our 17 hospice retail shops across Glasgow. Your trade expertise will help keep our shop spaces safe, welcoming and fully functional for customers, staff and volunteers alike.
What You’ll Do
You will help with practical, hands-on maintenance tasks such as:
Fixing or replacing lighting and dealing with minor electrical issues
Checking heating systems and thermostats
Supporting the sprinkler / safety system as required
Helping with simple CCTV troubleshooting
Providing small fixes or improvements in the shops (e.g., fixtures, shelving, shop displays)
Offering guidance within your own trade or area of expertise
Visiting different shop locations as needed (we cover mileage and necessary supplies)
What We’re Looking For
You will be a great fit if you:
Are accredited or qualified in a relevant trade (for example electrical, plumbing, HVAC, joinery, general maintenance)
Are practical, reliable and comfortable working independently or alongside a shop team
Can offer a few hours per week or occasional support when needed
Are flexible about location (visiting different shops as required)

You’ll use your professional skills for a meaningful cause, helping raise funds for vital hospice care.
