Communications & Social Media Volunteers

-About TAMS
TAMS (The Allotment Market Stall) helps local allotment holders share their surplus produce with the community. We collect and sell fresh, local fruit and vegetables at affordable prices, reducing food waste and celebrating community growing. You can find out more at www.tamstheallotmentmarketstall.org.uk

-About the Role
We’re looking for a Communications & Social Media Volunteer to help us share the story of TAMS with the community — online, through our website, and with our volunteers.
This role involves helping to keep our website and social media pages up to date, sharing news about our events and activities, and supporting volunteer communications such as newsletters and email updates.
You don’t need to be an expert — just someone who enjoys writing posts, sharing photos, or keeping things organised online.
All tasks are open for discussion so we can find what best fits your interests, skills, and time.

-What You Might Do
Here are some examples of how you could help — you can do all or just some of these:
• Keep the TAMS website up to date with current information and events.
• Post regular updates and photos on TAMS social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram).
• Share news about stalls, collections, and community events.
• Create or coordinate a simple quarterly newsletter for supporters and volunteers.
• Help the Volunteer Coordinator send updates to our mailing list.
• Attend a short committee meetings every 6 weeks to share updates and ideas.
• Suggest new ways to spread the word and engage our community.
We’ll chat with you to find the mix of tasks that feels right for you.

-Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be a professional communicator — enthusiasm and creativity are what matter most!
This role could suit someone who:
• Enjoys social media, writing, or taking photos.
• Likes sharing community stories or creative content.
• Is organised and comfortable keeping things up to date.
• Cares about local food, sustainability, or community projects.
• Can offer a few hours regularly (we’ll agree what fits your time).
Basic familiarity with social media or simple website editing is helpful — but we’ll support you if you’re new to it.

-What You’ll Get
• A warm welcome from a friendly, supportive volunteer team.
• A creative and flexible role where you can shape how TAMS shares its story.
• Experience in community communications, social media, and digital content.
• Support and guidance from the committee and Volunteer Coordinator.
• Travel expenses covered for meetings or events (if needed).
• The satisfaction of helping a local project grow its reach and impact.

-Interested?
We’d love to hear from you!
Email us at [email protected]
There’s no formal application process – just tell us a little about yourself and how you’d like to get involved. We’ll work out together what fits your time and interests.
