About Us
We are a mental wellbeing focussed organisation delivering workshops, volunteering opportunities and clubs in sustainable woodwork. We actively repurpose waste timber into furniture and wooden items for sale, or for the benefit of other local charities and non-profits. We transitioned to an independent CIC two years ago.
We are a team of three board members, also involved in service delivery. Therefore, we are keen to recruit people to the board that can assist in the strategic management and administration of the organisation, enabling more time to be spent delivering the service and supporting the people who use the workshop.
We are particularly keen to recruit people to assist with the core functions of the organisation including financial management, income generation and business development.
We are currently a small board and welcome expressions of interest from candidates who represent the diversity of people who use the workshop and bring new perspectives to our work including people who are younger, of underrepresented genders, disabled or from ethnic minority communities.
Knowledge or experience of the charity or community sector is desirable but not essential. Direct experience of the issues our organisation seeks to address is also welcome but not essential.
What are we looking for?
We are particularly keen to recruit multiple people to the board to assist with the core functions of the organisation including:
financial management (we are in need of a financial officer)
income generation (through expanding our sales opportunities)
strategic direction, future planning
What difference will you make?
We have been part of the community, recycling wood and providing woodwork activities for mental health and skills development for more than 15 years. As a member of the board, you will fulfil an essential role in taking the organisation forward, helping us grow our social impact and ensuring our sustainability for the future. We are the only community workshop in the area and strive to offer as much to the community that is free and affordable as possible, believing that learning and sharing skills alongside others can have huge benefits for mental wellbeing and community connection.
If you are interested, please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone. If you don’t hear back within 5 working days, please contact the organisation using the provided details. Check your junk/spam folder for responses. If there’s still no response, contact Volunteer Glasgow at [email protected].
Experience required
We are particularly keen to recruit people to assist with the core functions of the organisation including financial management, income generation through sales, and those with expertise in business development and strategy.
Other areas of skill or expertise that would add to our board would be fundraising – especially bid writing, marketing, or those with experience of the issues we address including mental health and wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
