Trustee

Role Description
Trustees are volunteers who play a critical role in overseeing the governance and strategic direction of Fife Pride. You will ensure that the organisation is legally and ethically compliant, while providing input to help us grow and thrive. As we continue to develop and strengthen our governance, we are especially keen to welcome trustees who can bring additional expertise in areas where our current board has skills gaps.
Responsibilities

  • Ensure Fife Pride is meeting its legal, ethical, and financial obligations.

  • Work with all trustees to write, and confirm the Fife Council Service Level Agreement, and funding.

  • Contribute to strategic decision-making for the long-term success of the organisation.

  • Attend regular trustee meetings and offer advice on key issues.

  • Help shape policies that align with our values and objectives.

  • General control and management of the organisation in line with governing documents.

  • Acting in the interests of the organisation i.e.: Ensure the organisation operates in a manner consistent with its purposes (in good faith); and act with the care and diligence that is reasonable to expect of someone who is managing the affairs of another person.

Experience required

Experience in charity governance or leadership is an advantage, but the key qualities are strong judgement and analytical thinking, a genuine commitment to Fife Pride’s mission and values, the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people, and the confidence to offer constructive challenge and support while always acting in the best interests of the organisation.

Travel details

The opportunity isa mostly hybrid, so monthly meetings are online via Zoom, and via group chat for communication. Occasionally we have meetings in person, usually in Kirkcaldy, and arrangements can be made in advance.

Travel expenses

Any travel expenses can be reimbursed for attending meetings, or if we enrol you in any training/conference to attend.
