Alford Valley Community Railway
- VO104944
Alford Valley Community Railway is a much-loved, volunteer-run narrow-gauge railway at the heart of the village of Alford. We offer relaxed, scenic train rides and rely entirely on volunteers to keep the railway running and thriving.
To help share the workload, the Treasurer role is split in two. The Treasurer 2 role focuses on oversight and support, rather than day-to-day Bill paying and is currently carried out by the Chair
What’s involved?
You’ll help keep an eye on the bigger financial picture and you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive Board and won’t be doing this on your own.
In practical terms, the role includes:
• Keeping an eye on bank accounts, income and grant funding reporting
• Preparing simple monthly finance updates for the Board
• Flagging any issues early so they can be handled proactively
You’ll also help ensure we meet basic charity finance requirements, with support from the Chair and an external accountant where needed.
A background in Management Accounting and Xero would be useful but not essential
Who would suit this role?
Someone who is comfortable with finance or bookkeeping, likes things to be organised, and enjoys working as part of a small, supportive team. Previous charity experience is helpful but not essential.
Time commitment:
Around 6–10 hours per month, with flexibility around your other commitments. Can me remote.
Why join us?
You’ll be helping to support a valued local charity, working with a welcoming volunteer team, and playing a key role in securing the future of a much-loved community railway.
