To provide safe transport for vulnerable older people, as part of the day services staff team.
Main Duties: To drive The Open Door’s vehicle as required. The vehicle has 8 passenger seats and a wheelchair lift.
To provide any necessary assistance for passengers before, during or after travel, consistent with their transport needs.
To ensure passengers travel safely and comfortably.
Travel details
The starting point will be our day service centre on Morningside Road. The volunteer will be driving around South Edinburgh and returning to Morningside. There will be a passenger escort travelling on the bus with the driver.
There is free parking a 10 minutes walk from our centre. We are 2 minutes away from bus stops on the following Lothian bus routes: 5, 11, 15, 16, 23, 36, 38.

Training details
Successful volunteers will undergo training on the electric vehicle, the wheelchair access platform.
