Interpreter (English-Arabic) - Women only

The Volunteer Interpreter Assistant is a vital bridge within our community, supporting women whose first language is not English. By providing professional interpretation services, you ensure that all members can fully participate in group activities, access essential support, and engage confidently with local services.
This is an opportunity to provide meaningful community impact: play a direct role in improving the lives of women in your local community by promoting integration and mutual understanding. Enhance your professional skills in interpretation, cross-cultural communication, and community advocacy, and gain valuable experience working with a vibrant group representing over 22 different nationalities and collaborating with local Glasgow organisations. Support the IWG mission to help women, especially New Scots, lead full and active lives in civil society, and build lasting friendships and expand your professional network within the social justice and charity sectors.
Key Responsibilities

Verbal Interpretation: Assist in interpreting spoken communication during group meetings, workshops, and community events to ensure clear understanding.

Support & Engagement: Help members comprehend information, follow instructions, and participate meaningfully in discussions.

Dialogue Facilitation: Act as a bridge between group members and leaders, ensuring that every woman's voice is heard and valued.

Document Translation: Translate key written materials—such as flyers, event invitations, and informational resources—to improve accessibility.

Cultural Mediation: Serve as a cultural mediator by helping to explain different cultural contexts and resolving potential misunderstandings.

If you are interested, please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when registered and logged in). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out, then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on [email protected].
