IT Assistant (Women only)

We are seeking a motivated IT Assistant to support the digital requirements of our vibrant women's group. You will play a key role in empowering women especially New Scots, by improving digital literacy and ensuring the smooth operation of IT activities within a supportive community environment.
This is a great opportunity for professional development: gain hands-on experience supporting adult learners in a community-based digital setting, enhance your communication, teamwork, and intercultural skills within a diverse environment. Make a positive difference in the lives of women in your local community, meet new people and join a welcoming group representing over 22 nationalities. Key Responsibilities

Digital Support: Assist members with basic computer, tablet, and smartphone usage, including troubleshooting and guidance on best practices.


Technical Setup: Set up and maintain IT equipment for group meetings and events, such as projectors, laptops, and WiFi.


Platform Guidance: Support members in using online platforms for communication, including email, social media, and video conferencing tools.


Workshop Delivery: Help organise and deliver basic digital skills workshops tailored to the specific needs of the group.


Digital Safety: Promote the safe use of technology by offering advice on cybersecurity and data protection.


Maintenance: Keep software and hardware updated and liaise with external providers if technical support is required.


Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and supplies, reporting any issues to group leaders.

Experience required


  • Basic proficiency in computers, tablets, smartphones, and common software like Microsoft Office and email clients.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support individuals with varying levels of digital experience.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and simply to non-technical users.

  • Patience, reliability, and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving.

  • Willingness to work collaboratively while demonstrating sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of group mem

Travel details

The role takes at the St. Matthews Community Centre, 200 Balmore Road, Possilpark, Glasgow G22 6LJ. Parkhouse train station is in easy walking distance and the area is served by a number of regular bus services including numbers 7, 7A, 8, 75, 90, 128, M3.

Travel expenses

A flat rate of 10 pounds will be provided for out of pocket expenses.
