Age Concern Ayr

Age Concern Ayr SCIO is a charity working to support over 55s in South Ayrshire. We have a shop in Crown Street Ayr, which is run totally by volunteers. The shop funds all our work, including our Advice Centre in Garden Street. There we can assist people in maximising their income by helping them to access benefits they are eligible for, as well as assisting those who find it difficult to link to vital services in the digital age. This year alone we have granted £35,000 to other local charities and organisations to support older people.
Age Concern Ayr has a Board of trustees, all volunteers, who meet monthly to ensure the smooth running of the charity. We currently are seeking to recruit a trustee who would take on the role of secretary. We provide a friendly, supportive environment and the current secretary would be available to ensure a smooth handover.
The key aspects of the secretary role are:
- To produce a summary minute of the monthly Board Meetings. We meet on a Thursday at 12.30 pm to 2pm at our Advice Centre.
- To produce a Trustee Annual Report, although this year’s will be covered by the current secretary.
- To act with the other Trustees to take forward the work of the charity.
