Volunteer Evening Receptionist

Ayrshire Council on Alcohol is an alcohol counselling recovery service commissioned by East & South Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnerships to provide free confidential advice, information & support to individuals aged 16 + whether they wish to stop drinking or reduce their drinking levels. Support is also available to those concerned about a loved one’s drinking. All counsellors are trained to professional standards and work from accessible venues throughout East & South Ayrshire. Daytime & evening appointments are available.
ACA are currently looking to recruit a Volunteer Evening Receptionist.
You will be the first point of contact when an individual arrives for their appointment and will greet them in a professional and welcoming manner, ensuring that they are comfortably seated with a glass of water in reception
Main Tasks:
Meet and greet individuals who use the service · Update the appointments diary · Answer the telephone & pass messages to the appropriate staff member · General office duties – photocopying, shredding, making up information packs & case records

Experience required

An empathic & non-judgemental approach towards individuals who are concerned about their own or a loved one’s drinking
· A pleasant & courteous manner when dealing with individuals in person or via telephone · An understanding of working in an environment whereby policy & procedures must be followed and confidentiality strictly upheld at all times · The ability to carry out general office duties such as filing, shredding, photocopying etc.
· To understand the boundaries within the role and seek support from the Director of Service when required

Travel expenses are reimbursed and lunch is provided if you work more than 4 hours
