Digital Buddy Volunteer

About the Role
We are looking for friendly and patient volunteers to join our Digital Buddy Initiative, helping older adults feel more confident using their phones and everyday apps.
At Won Connect, we offer in-class digital lessons but many students need support between digital learning sessions so they don’t feel stuck or have to wait until their next lesson. As a Digital Buddy, you will provide simple guidance and encouragement to help participants
practise and build confidence with technology.
All support is provided remotely through phone calls, text messages, WhatsApp, or other agreed communication methods. There are no home visits as part of this role.
What You’ll Do
Provide remote support with basic phone and app questions
Help participants with simple digital tasks, such as:

Sending messages on WhatsApp
Using apps on their phone
Understanding phone settings or notifications
Finding features on a smartphone

Encourage participants to work through tasks themselves rather than doing it for them
Check in with participants 2–3 times each week
Send friendly messages to see if support is needed
Complete a short support record after each interaction
What you'll get from volunteering in this role:
This is a flexible volunteering role with the opportunity to be valued as an important member of the organisation and contribute to a growing social enterprise. Gain experience working from home and in an office setting, with a welcoming supportive team. Engage with the local community and make a direct, meaningful difference in the lives of older people.
If you are interested, please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when registered and logged in). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out, then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on [email protected]
