Young Persons Befriender Aberdeenshire/Peterhead

Aberlour Children’s Charity has built an excellent reputation over the past 30 years for supporting children and young people who have experienced disadvantage and trauma arising from early childhood experiences. We are deeply committed to a child-centred approach, placing the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development of every child at the heart of what we do.
We are looking for befrienders to befriend a child or young person. As a volunteer befriender you would be matched with a child, who you would spend regular time with on a 1:1 basis, building a trusting relationship and having fun. You would take part in activities that a child enjoys such as playing football/going to the park or to introduce them to new activities or hobbies that they may not have the opportunity to take part in normally.

Experience required

A genuine interest in the well-being of children and young people
· A few hours to spare each week
· Reliability and discretion
· Friendly and approachable
· Non-judgemental attitude
· Good communication and listening skills
· Responsible and dependable
