Maryhill Burgh Hall Trust
- VO106122
We are looking for enthusiastic new members of the community to join Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust as Trustees and help steer and shape the future of two incredible venues: Maryhill Burgh Halls and The Whitehouse.
About Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust
Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust (registered Scottish Charity SC036089) was formed in 2004 to refurbish and reopen our B-listed heritage building. We are home to a number of local businesses, charities and social enterprises, as well as the Maryhill Museum and — temporarily — Glasgow City Council's Maryhill Hub. We have recently secured the lease on the oldest building in Maryhill, dating back to the 1790s, adding another exciting chapter to our story. As we approach the 150th birthday of the Halls, we have ambitious plans to once again become the civic hub of the community.
Could You Be Our Next Trustee?
We are keen to hear from people with a connection to Maryhill and a passion for heritage, community inclusion and civic life. Our Trustees come from all walks of life, but what unites them is a genuine belief in the power of community and a desire to make Maryhill a place people are proud to call home. We are at an exciting moment in our history, with a landmark anniversary approaching, a newly secured historic building and ambitious plans for the future, and we want people around the table who share that energy.
We are particularly interested in candidates who bring one or more of the following:
Previous board or governance experience
A financial or legal background
Knowledge of organisational structures and charity management
We would really value candidates with a connection to the community, enthusiasm for what we do, and willingness to contribute their skills and time to something genuinely worthwhile.
What's involved?
Trustees attend six board meetings per year and are expected to join at least one sub-committee, where the real detail of our work is shaped. It is a voluntary role, but a genuinely rewarding one. You will have a real say in the strategic direction of the Trust, help safeguard two remarkable buildings, and play a direct part in securing the future of a vital community resource for generations to come.
