Marie Curie - Volunteer - Hairdresser/Barber - Glasgow Hospice

At our hospices, we aim to provide the best possible service to those requiring end of life care.  We are looking for a qualified hairdresser or barber to pamper our patients, giving them time and attention and making a difference to their lives.  
 
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
Provide a hairdressing service to patients at the hospice 
Consult staff about which patients would like to use the service 
Chat to patients 
Keep the hairdressing room clean and tidy 
Let staff know about any issues concerning patients’ well-being  
Help with other related tasks when necessary

Experience required

-Qualified hairdresser or barber with relevant experience.
-Friendly, compassionate and empathetic approach to working with patients.
-Ability to maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
-Reliable, professional and able to work respectfully with hospice staff.

Travel details

The hospice is easily accessible by public transport and car.
By bus: Services 29, 31, 45, 45A, 88 and 371 stop close to the hospice. Route 29 stops at the main entrance to Stobhill Hospital (approximately a 5-minute walk), while routes 31, 45, 45A, 88 and 371 stop on Balgrayhill Road (around a 10-minute walk).
By train: The nearest station is Springburn, approximately a 30-minute walk or a short taxi journey from the hospice.
By car: Limited on-site parking is available, including accessible parking spaces.

Travel expenses

Reimbursement for travel and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
