Director

We are seeking two new directors to fill vacancies in our Board of Directors. We are particularly looking for applications from individuals with expertise in finance, charity governance, public relations / communications and fundraising. Previous experience of working in the ecology sector, including as a service user of biodiversity data, would be desirable.
TWIC is an environmental charity with a reputation for excellence in the provision of biodiversity data within south-east and part of central Scotland. With 3.6 FTE staff plus volunteers, TWIC currently holds 4.57 million species records as well as habitats and designated sites information. Our events programme supports new and existing recorders and stimulates interest in biological recording amongst the public.
As a Director you will contribute to the success and future development of the organisation and help ensure TWIC meets its legal and charitable obligations.

Experience required

A keen interest in the natural environment, sound judgement, strategic thinking, teamwork and communication skills. Experience in finance, charity governance, communications, fundraising, ecology or biodiversity data would be desirable.

Limited bus service - no.51 Borders Bus to Tynehead Road End. Car park onsite.

Travel expenses

This is a voluntary role, but Board members can claim reasonable expenses for attending meetings and events, currently at a rate of 45p/per mile.

Training details

An induction programme will be provided on appointment, followed by ongoing support and training from TWIC staff and Directors.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 16

Applicants must comply with OSCR Guidance & Good Practice for Charity Trustees. A trustee declaration form must be signed prior to be being elected as a director. Must be, or willing to become, a member of TWIC before your appointment.
