As part of the ongoing customer service provided at Biggar & Upper Clydesdale Museum we are seeking to recruit Front-of-House (FOH) Volunteers. This involves meeting and greeting visitors, providing information about the museum and services, assisting customers purchasing in our shop and supporting display and merchandising within the retail area. Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and customer guidance.
The role is very varied and one of the perks of a small museum is being able to get involved in a bit of everything. Opportunities to help with research visits, exhibitions, events, creating new quizzes and activities, museum clean up days, collections work, and much more.
Qualities-
- Confident in speaking to the public
- Proactive
- No prior experience needed but a background in customer service is a bonus
- An interest in the heritage sector
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and punctual

Training details
Interested parties will have an informal meeting to ensure this volunteer opportunity is right for them. New volunteers will receive a full induction by the the Museum Co-ordinator, who would be your first port of call. The co-odinator organises regular informal chat-ups throughout your first few shifts, and is contactable through the office email throughout the Museum's opening hours.
We have a volunteer team with a variety of skills and experience in numerous sectors, and they will be there to assist you on shift
Taster
Before anyone begins as a volunteer they will do a trial shift with the Museum Co-ordinator and another experienced volunteer, to see if the role is a good fit.
