Retail Volunteer (Cowdenbeath)

Want to meet new people and make a difference in your local Cowdenbeath community? Come and volunteer at our Cowdenbeath shop!

Located in the Raith Centre, our Cowdenbeath shop is a much-loved part of the local community. With the help of our amazing volunteers, we’re making a real difference for people living with chest, heart, stroke, and long covid conditions.

The role is varied and flexible.


Whether you love fashion and chatting with customers, or prefer working behind the scenes sorting donations, there’s a role for you. No matter your background or experience, your support can make a real impact.


No experience or specific skills are needed.


We provide full training and ongoing support from our friendly shop team.

Experience required

This is an opportunity to undertake a satisfying and rewarding role. As part of our team of volunteers, you will provide customer support, whilst working in a friendly atmosphere, providing an extremely useful and appreciated service to the charity. The role includes welcoming and assisting customers, customer service and sales service, stock control, sorting donations, hanging, and ticketing stock and helping to keep the shop clean and tidy.

Travel expenses

Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. These should be discussed with your Line Manager prior to outlay and must be submitted within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the CHSS Volunteer Expenses Policy.

Support
Training details

All volunteers are supported by their line manager, usually the manager of the shop. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland will provide all necessary training about shop procedures, which will be carried out under the guidance of the shop manager. Formal training will include online Manual Handling and Gift Aid Training.
