Secretary to the Board of Trustees

STAND is an empowering community-based charity for families living with mild to moderate dementia in Fife. The charities can-do ethos aims to bust the stigma of dementia and enable people to live well.
The interesting role of Trustee Secretary is diverse and key to the success of the peer-led charity.
Ten trustees currently sit on STAND's Board of Trustees and, as a peer-led charity, four (including the Chairperson) live with dementia, three are/were carers and three have professional backgrounds in supporting families living with dementia.
As an Office Bearer, the role of Secretary to the Board is an important and occasionally challenging one, and a calm approach always helps. An insight or personal experience of dementia or caring responsibilities would deepen the purpose derived from the role. The STAND team is friendly and supportive, and you will be working with the charity’s Development Lead and Administration Officer alongside trustees, volunteers, staff and members of the charity.

Experience required

The organisation is seeking a friendly and approachable person with considered listening and communication skills to join their supportive team. An attention to detail and excellent standard of English with the ability to translate lengthy reports into accessible summaries is required. Being flexible, well organised and keeping everyone to task are further attributes required for the role. Patience, respect and a professional approach in dealing with sensitive issues and an understanding of legal obligations concerning data privacy is essential. IT skills include Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and experience in using social media.
