WaterAid Speaker Volunteer

WaterAid Speakers are trained volunteers that deliver inspiring talks and workshops, to raise awareness about the importance of clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, to transform peoples’ lives for good. Our Speaker volunteers engage audiences about the important work of WaterAid, inspiring them to take action, as they speak with schools, universities, businesses, youth groups, religious places of worship, service organisations, and many more.

Experience required

WaterAid Speakers need an interest in the work of WaterAid, passion for public speaking, and confidence to speak publicly to a diverse range of community groups. Competence in PowerPoint an email also required.

Travel expenses

Speaker Volunteers can be reimbursed with travel expenses to talks/workshops.

Support
Training details

Speaker Volunteers must complete an online training, followed by a brief Zoom interview and practice presentation with the WaterAid team. Ongoing support available following training, from team and fellow volunteers.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18
WaterAid will make adjustments or changes for any disabled Speakers or Speakers with long-term conditions that apply to join us and provide resources, training and processes in alternative formats when required.

Must be available to deliver a minimum of four talks/workshops a year.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
