Volunteering as a member of the Café team you will play an integral part of Kirkmichael's community shop and cafe, by helping to deliver a café experience for our visitors and guests whether in the Café or at events.
Your role as a Community Cafe volunteer will be: Assisting the Café team in the day to day running of the Café, such as the preparation and delivery of various hot and cold food and drinks and assisting with the day to day running of the Café.
- Dealing with the visitors and customers in a friendly and polite manner.
- Handling cash.
- Delivering food and drink to our guests and clearing tables.
- Emptying waste bins.
We support all volunteers and offer to pay for training such as the online food handling course. Volunteers are always supported by trustee members and/or staff at the shop and cafe.

Volunteering hours can contribute to the Saltire Awards and/or Duke of Edinburgh Award
Frequency & commitment
The shop and cafe are open Monday to Sunday from 9am till 3pm. Volunteers can take 3 hour shifts (9am to 12pm and 12pm to 3pm).
Volunteers (aged 14-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
