Perinatal Befriender - Edinburgh & Lothians

As a volunteer befriender with our perinatal support project you will provide listening and emotional support to parents who have low to moderate mental health issues or are identified as vulnerable to developing mental health issues in the perinatal period. The perinatal period is from pregnancy to baby’s first birthday. This support may be through home visits, telephone calls, group work or support to access other local services.

Frequency & commitment
Befrienders will spend a few hours each week with mum/family and attend all Aberlour training Volunteer Befrienders need to be able to commit to the Perinatal Support Service for at least 1 year. Volunteers need to meet with their befriendee once a week.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
