We require volunteers from both sexes and all age groups who will pretend to be patients so that students can gain experience in dealing with patients in a relaxed and safe atmosphere. A simulated patient is someone who has been carefully trained to portray the emotional, symptomatic and physical characteristics of an actual patient. They are additionally trained to provide feedback to students on their performance during the simulated patient encounter.
Experience required
No experience is necessary, keen on role play although no acting experience required.
Travel details
Simulated patients are used at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Western General Hospital and the Medical School.
Travel expenses
We pay travelling expenses for all areas used.

Initial training programme. ongoing support.

Minimum age: 16
Availability
Frequency & commitment
3 hours per Month on weekdays
Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
