Maggie's centre in Fife is everyone’s home of cancer care, a space for being together, for a moment alone, for getting going again or for meeting people who just get it. They are seeking volunteers to support their professional team to provide the best quality support.

Your main responsibility would be to offer a warm welcome to people as they arrive at the centre and then support them to make use of Maggie’s support. Maggie’s know first impressions count, and your presence will help set the tone for new and regular visitors to the centre. By providing a calm welcome and making people feel at ease.

There are many ways to help support keeping their centre running smoothly, such as making a cup of tea, filling the dishwasher, maintaining the library / leaflets area and setting group spaces. They would love to hear from you.

Experience required

Warm and friendly individuals who demonstrate kindness, patience, and respect to others. It is important that you are comfortable meeting people who have been diagnosed with cancer/recovering from cancer/bereaved as a result of cancer, and be reliable, have good communication skills and maintain confidentiality.

Travel expenses

Mileage (bus fares / petrol) are reimbursed on a monthly basis.

Support

Training details

Volunteers will receive induction training before being matched with a person requiring support. Ongoing support and supervision will be given by the Volunteer Manager, who will also ensure that the volunteer can access any training to help them in their role
