Young People's Group helper

Methilhill Community Children's Initiative is a community led group dedicated to providing local children and Primary 1-7 young people with opportunities to play, learn and grow.

Based within the Methilhill Community Learning Garden, they operate a programme of activities including garden-based activities, local youth clubs and outreach sessions to schools and organisations.

They have been running for 10 years. Community spirit together with meaningful learning is at the heart of everything they do.


MCCI are looking for keen, enthusiastic individuals to volunteer in their Primary 1-7 groups Outdoor Adventurers – Monday-Thursday 3-5.45pm, and Youth club, Fridays 5-8pm.


You can come along to one or all these groups to gain skills and experience of volunteering with young people.


MCCI offer a friendly atmosphere and supportive team. All groups are based outdoors.


References and PVG are needed prior to commencement. It is illegal to apply for this post if you have been barred for working with children.


Experience required

A fun and friendly candidate would be ideally suited to this role. volunteering outdoors can be tough – especially in the winter so all volunteers need to be resilient. The ideal candidate should be willing to get muddy, spend time with young people and love the outdoors.

Travel details

Methilhill Learning Garden is based in Sea Road Methilhill KY8 2GW. There are bus stops within walking distance and parking is available.

Travel expenses

Volunteers travel/out of pocket expenses are reimbursed on a fortnightly basis, or weekly if required.

Support
Training details

Volunteers will be paired with a member of staff who will be their main contact. Ongoing support will also be provided by project manager. Online and in-person training is offered.
