Volunteer Community Liaison Co-Ordinators

Would you like the opportunity to apply your passion for recruitment in a meaningful volunteer role to launch young people for life, whilst also enhancing your skills, boosting your self-esteem and meeting new people?

Bridge of Don Sea Cadets, based as Gordon Barracks, is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Community Liaison Co-ordinators to join its Unit Management Team (UMT). Bridge of Don is a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people.

The Charity is currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers that can support with recruitment of cadets and adults to the Unit and with building strong links in the community. There are free training courses available for you to develop new skills, boost your CV and support you in this role. These tasks can also be divided between volunteers, so why not come along with a friend and share the experience?


-The tasks of a Community Liaison Co-ordinator include but are not restricted to the following:
• Use digital platforms and events to recruit both cadets and adult volunteers.
• Raise awareness of the unit to the local community through recruitment events and activities.
• Scan the community for key events and opportunities to recruit cadets and volunteers and promote the unit.
• Develop links with local media and promote the use of social media to recruit adults and cadets.

Travel details

All UMT members attend a regular UMT meeting - usually 1 hour, monthly or bi-monthly, on a weekday evening at the unit, in person. The unit address is Sea Cadets Bridge Of Don, Building 17, Gordon Barracks, Ellon Road, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, AB23 8DB. It is easily accessible by car or public transport, including rural services to and from the North of the City.
Most other UMT duties can be carried out remotely from home.

Travel expenses

If UMT members attend a course, then their travel and sometimes food expenses, will be reimbursed. Volunteers claim for these through our online App Financial System.

Support
Training details

Excellent support and training provided to all volunteers. All volunteers also go through a comprehensive induction process covering all areas of Sea Cadet training.

Minimum age: 18

Frequency & commitment
The volunteering times are flexible. All help makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
