Isolation and loneliness are on the rise especially with older people in the LGBT+ community. We are looking for kind and empathetic LGBT+identifying people to help befriend an older person. Could you help by just having a telephone conversation with someone, once a week?

You are matched with an older person to have about an hour-long chat with someone once weekly or once fortnighly depending on availability. This role is perfect for fitting around your schedule and lifestyle. We know a good chat can mean the world and can help the most isolated in the LGBT+ community, especially for those who may have had to hide their whole life.

All training and onboarding is remote and you are supported by our team in your role.

Experience required

No experience required but we do ask you identify as a part of the LGBT+ community. This would be well suited for those who are caring and empathetic and can work alongside older people over the age of 75 years old.

Remote / Homebased.

Frequency & commitment

Timing according to volunteer's availability.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
