Front of House

Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Trust is responsible for preserving and maintaining Kirkcaldy Old Kirk as a community venue, heritage centre and community music hub. A front of house volunteer is required to provide excellent service to customers and performers attending theatrical and musical performances and concerts.

Volunteers can be involved with:


  • Welcoming and engaging with visitors and performers



  • Ensuring performers have access to what they require prior to the performance



  • Checking tickets and showing visitors to their seats



  • Selling programmes and refreshments at the interval



  • Providing guidance on audio and sound systems to performers during rehearsals and performances (training will be provided)




If you would like to learn more about local heritage, meet new people, inspire others and observe performances whilst volunteering this could be the role for you.


Experience required

Experience required: Good communication skills, friendly, flexible and commitment to good customer care.

Travel details

The Old Kirk is situated in Central Kirkcaldy on Kirk Wynd within easy reach of bus and train stations. Volunteers must be able to access the venue by own or public transport. Please note events sometimes do not finish and performers do not exit until midnight. Volunteer safety is paramount so discussions will take place on ways to ensure volunteers get home safely if an event runs late.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses will be paid monthly however individual agreements for payment can be agreed. Public transport rates of 40p per mile apply.

Training details

Volunteers are required to complete an induction. This includes a welcome and background to the Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Trust and health and safety procedures. When practical volunteers will be offered a tour of the building and a chance to shadow an experienced volunteer at their first event. Welcome Host training, First Aid and Food Hygiene training are also available where practical.
