Walking Football Referee

Do something amazing and volunteer with North Lanarkshire Council. By choosing to join us as an Walking Football Referee, you will be directly improving and enriching the lives of people in your local community. With the right help and support everyone can enjoy a healthier and happier life.
Locations, Days & Times
Monday 7-8pm Townhead Community Centre
Tuesday 12-1pm Broadwood Stadium
Thursday 12-1pm Airdrie Leisure Centre
Venues and timings may vary depending on programme needs.
What’s involved?
Supporting sports coaches/leads/coordinators with the delivery of the session
Communicating instruction and commands using clear simple language.
Support coaches with officiating walking football games.
Create a positive/safe environment for all involved.
To communicate effectively and inform and assist where appropriate, all members of the public involved in the programme whilst always maintaining a professional and customer orientated approach.
What will you get out of it?
Experience working within a sporting environment and supporting coaches.
The ability to enhance the lives of people within North Lanarkshire through engagement and sporting activities.
Ability to be involved in future projects/events/sessions if applicable.
Qualities and skills required for the role:
Enthusiastic, outgoing personal and motivated individual.
Confidence to engage with participants and members of the public and encourage participation in activities.
Intertest in sport or physical activities
What’s the commitment?
To be involved in a sporting programme that is regularly delivered, attendance to the sessions and support the coaches/delivery throughout.

Volunteers (aged 12-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
