Board Trustee Director

Through our unique pathway of support & resources, we build hope, resilience & understanding of mental health and wellbeing. Are you interested in contributing to Health in Mind, a mental health and wellbeing charity?

Health in Mind Board meets four times a year, via video conferencing or in Edinburgh and is supported by two focused committees, meeting quarterly by video conference.

We are currently seeking applications from people who have experience of mental health difficulties, and/or health and social care, finance, HR and other relevant expertise and experience. You don’t need to have been on a Board before- we offer a full induction and ongoing learning and development opportunities.


We are committed to reflecting the communities we serve and would particularly welcome applications from people who are currently under-represented on our Board, including disabled people, those from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic communities and people aged under 50.


What are we looking for?
Lived experience of mental health difficulties and/ or
Current knowledge, skills or experience at strategic level in one of the following areas:
Health and Social Care
Human Resources
Organisational development
Finance / audit / accounting
Risk management
IT / systems
Marketing and Communications


A commitment to the vision, purpose, and values of Health in Mind.


Your skills, experience and time commitment will support Health in Mind to support over 4,000 every year.


You will guide Health in Mind to rise to challenges we face and move into the future with confidence in the high quality impactful support we provide.


Experience required

Lived experience of mental health difficulties and/ or
Current knowledge, skills or experience at strategic level in one of the following areas:

Health and Social Care

Human Resources


Organisational development


Finance / audit / accounting


Risk management


IT / systems


Marketing and Communications


A commitment to the vision, purpose, and values of Health in Mind.
Sound judgement, integrity and strategic vision.
Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
Understanding of the principles of effective governance of organisations.
Understanding of the voluntary sector/ health and social care.
Ability to think creatively, a ‘can do’ attitude to problem solving and willingness to speak their mind.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to take decisions for the good of Health in Mind.


Travel details

Commitment to two in person Board meetings per year, remaining Board meetings and Committee meetings will take place on line/ hybrid basis

Travel expenses

Travel expenses will be refunded.

Support
Training details

A full induction will be provided, as well as two development sessions per year.
In addition, further training is available as needed
