Dams to Darnley Country Park Volunteer

This is a really varied and interesting opportunity if you like the outdoors, nature, working with your hands etc and the volunteers are the backbone of the Country Park. Their work is greatly appreciated by everyone who visits as it keeps the area an amazing greenspace for everyone to enjoy. Activities vary depending upon the time of year and what needs done. Previous volunteer days have included pond creation and management, tree planting, painting, litter picking, woodland and vegetation management, habitat improvements etc.

In spring and summer there are opportunities for volunteers to take part in wildlife surveying for wild flowers, water voles, butterflies, bumblebees, amphibians etc.

We also visit and help at other parks and the members get special events put on just for them such as bat nights and Xmas campfire cook-ups.

The group meet every Thursday at 10 am and finish at around 2 pm and all tools, equipment and PPE are provided, as is training when needed. There's no prior experience needed and no expectation to come every week - some of the group come weekly, some monthly, some when they can.

Travel details

We generally meet at the Darnley Mill carpark at G53 7RN but sometimes meet at other locations around the Country Park. Transport can be arranged from the Darnley Mill carpark in these instances. There is good bus and train (Priesthill & Darnley Station) links to Darnley.
