Treasurer

As Treasurer you will join the board of a two tier SCIO.

Active Dollar & Muckhart (ADM) is a Sport Scotland registered Community Sports Hub supported by an embedded Community Sports Hub (CSH) Coordinator in Clackmannanshire Council – for more information please see: https://sportscotland.org.uk/clubs/community-sport-hubs/

ADM's task is to adapt the CSH model in a rural environment. Their major advantages are the proximity to the Ochil Hills and access to the Devon Way Cycle track that connects the Hillfoots towns and villages - for details of planning so far see Resources at: https://www.activedollarcommunitysportshub.com/about-active-dollar

Founded in 2022 ADM has the vision that 'With COLLABORATION between PROVIDERS and STAKEHOLDERS the FK14 COMMUNITY will have access to a COORDINATED PROGRAMME OF SPORT and ACTIVITY for PARTICIPANTS of ALL AGES and ABILITIES.

There are two Operational Roles:

  1. promoting and supporting existing sport and activity organisations

  2. leading strategic facility improvement projects (currently there are two projects: the development from scratch of the Devon Way Sports Park in Dollar and in collaboration with Clacks Active Travel connecting Muckhart and Dollar with a safe walking and cycling route)
Most of the foundation work has been completed over the last three years (Community Engagement, Development of Operational Plans, building connections with the Stakeholders, pending application for long lease and planning permission from Clacks Council)

The treasurer will join a board of lively, can do personalities that have been associated with the ADM operational direction for at least the years and developing the business case for its facilities projects.
Missing is a person with the formal financial management skills and knowledge required by a two tier SCIO. This expertise is crucial to the OSCR governance requirements. As such the individual will be in the position to strongly influence strategic and short term decision making.

In joining the team you will be part of a charitable entity that will have a long term impact on the lives of the people it serves. As such this opportunity should prove to be a positive and rewarding life experience.

Your duties will be:
• controlling and accounting for the organisation’s finances
• issuing receipts for cash received, keeping records of cash paid out, and being a counter signatory to any major banking transaction (mostly involving grants resulting from fund raising)
• overseeing bookkeeping (as set up by you and with suitable fundraising)

As Treasurer your main governance responsibilities are:
• presenting financial reports, raising issues and answering questions at regular meetings and the AGM
• liaising with the auditors or financial examiners for the annual review of accounts
• ensuring statutory returns are made to any relevant regulators

The team members have varied career experience to bring to what is essentially voluntary organisation. The opportunity should appeal to someone who enjoys effective teamwork that achieves agreed objectives.

If required, additional training concerning the charitable status is available through CTSI. It is planned to float the SCIO in early 2025.
