Treasurer

The Cosmos Centre has recently changed its legal status to become a SCIO – a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The Board of Trustees are all volunteers with varying skills to bring to the charity. They are looking for a new Board Member who is experienced in finance who can advise the existing board on forward planning and appropriate funding opportunities.

Due to the nature of the work carried out at the Centre, all volunteers undergo a vetting clearance through the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

The Centre is at the heart of the community, providing facilities for many groups and individuals who would otherwise be excluded and isolated. Members of the public have access to support, guidance and information through various services, as well as social gatherings and sports groups.

This is a very rewarding position in a small but very active group of volunteers who are passionate about the future of the community centre.

Experience required

The volunteer should have some financial background, preferably having worked alongside charities in the past. Their skills would be instrumental in guiding the other board members in all financial aspects of running a not-for-profit organisation.

Travel details

The Board meetings are generally held at the Centre in the evening on the third Monday of the month, 10 times a year (not July or December). There may be occasions when further meetings are arranged to discuss specific projects. These are mutually agreed among board members. The Centre has its own car park and is also on the main bus routes.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses will be paid on an individual basis.
