This is an exciting and varied opportunity to live and work on this wonderful remote island. Work with our Handa Ranger staff undertaking a wide range of different tasks including seabird monitoring (kittiwakes, fulmars, guillemots, razorbills), practical work, landing and meeting visitors.
Please note, there may be more than one role available.
Experience required
Experience of communal living ideally in a remote setting;
Someone who ‘wears well’ with others;
The role requires a good level of health and fitness and a sense of humour;
Some fieldwork experience useful;
Self motivated & willingness to be flexible.
Travel details
We can arrange a pick up in Ullapool or else you can drive to the Handa ferry terminal.
Travel expenses
We will reimburse reasonable travel expenses at the start & end of the placement. We provide a weekly subsistence allowance for food.

Support
Training details
2-day Outdoor Emergency First Aid course; full training necessary to carry out maintenance, surveys & monitoring; all equipment and support throughout the season.
Taster
A full induction will be undertaken by Handa staff before the placements start.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
Volunteers need to be confident in their physical ability to live & work on a small island
