Volunteer Befriender (BeFriend in Bellshill)

Do you have a spare hour or two a week? Do you have a listening ear? Do you want to help reduce loneliness?
BeFriend in Bellshill's volunteer befrienders provide company and friendship to lonely elderly people through home visits, telephone calls and groups. You will be matched with an elderly befriendee and visit them once a week for a chat/cuppa and to keep them company.

All expenses are reimbursed. References & PVG check required. Informal 1-day induction training provided along with regular support from staff.

Experience required

We are looking for friendly, caring people who would enjoy chatting to an elderly person.

Travel details

The befriending role will take place at an elderly person's home (we cover Bellshill, Mossend, Holytown, Viewpark & Coatbridge) and will match people based on their transport options. The office is based in Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre in Bellshill which is where we would initially meet potential volunteers and conduct the induction training.
