Volunteer Befrienders

Our service supports anyone aged 18 or over in Aberdeen who is experiencing, or at risk of, loneliness or isolation. As a volunteer, your help can make a real difference. Our trained and compassionate volunteers offer not only friendship as a lifeline, but also a helping hand to reconnect people with their community — bringing joy, purpose, and connection back into their lives.

*About this opportunity
Everyone can feel lonely or isolated at times, especially when facing hardship.

In response to the impact of loneliness and isolation on people’s wellbeing — physical, emotional, social, and mental health — which the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis have both exacerbated, TLC has expanded its befriending service to meet this growing need and help combat the loneliness felt by many across our city.

Our service supports anyone aged 18 and over in Aberdeen who is experiencing, or at risk of, loneliness or isolation. Your help as a volunteer can therefore make a real difference.

Our trained and compassionate volunteers not only offer friendship as a lifeline but also provide a helping hand to reconnect people with their community — bringing joy, purpose, and connection back into their lives.

If you would like to be a beacon of hope to someone in need, we’d love you to join our fantastic team of volunteers.
