West Barns Community Councillor

West Barns Community Council is one of 20 community councils in East Lothian..
7 Community Councillors serve West Barns village along with other communities e.g. Myreside, Hedderwick, Biel, Belton, Ninewar.
The Community Council is a statutory consultee on planning.matters. It is also consulted and has representation on bodies looking at other issues like Health, roads , John Muir Country Park. It listens to community concerns and represents them to ELC and other public bodies.
The Community Council gives small grants to local groups.
The Community Council is involved with the Christmas Lights and organises the annual village Remembrance Service.
The community council medets at 7 pm on the last Thursday of the month for about 2 hours.
Community Councillors must live in the area, be on the electoral roll and be over 16.
There will be Community Council elections in october 2025 but all Community Councillors are eligible for reelection.
