Sport Assistant

To support and assist in the development and delivery of sports activity programmes throughout North Lanarkshire working in North Lanarkshire Council facilities and community-based venues. You will be expected to support the delivery of sport sessions in a variety of activities/programmes as specified by North Lanarkshire Council and any associated partners to deliver pre-determined outcomes.
What’s involved?
• Supporting employed Sport Coaches/leads/co-ordinators with the delivery of the session
• Communicating instructions and commands using clear simple language
• Follow session plan for the activity/sport and offer support to participants when necessary
• Ensure each session/activity is delivered in a safe environment
• Assist the Programme Coach/leads/co-ordinators with keeping registers and ensuring equipment is safely returned.
• To communicate effectively and inform and assist wherever appropriate, all members of the public involved in the programme whilst maintaining a professional and customer orientated approach at all times

Ability to be involved in future projects/events/sessions if applicable.
Qualities and skills required for the role:
• Enthusiastic, out-going personal and motivated individual.
• Confidence to engage with young people and encourage participation in activities.
• Interest in sport or physical activity/working with youths.

We ask that volunteers commit, where possible, to one session each week. This regular commitment from you will help to provide service users with a consistently great experience.

Training details

Induction given before session and thorough walk through of the venue/space of the session. Formal training can be offered after 90 days volunteering.
