Youth Worker

We are a charity offering a safe drop-in space for young people, S1 to S4 age group. The space has a pool table, football table, PS5 & WII games space, along with couches for chatting and chilling. There is also a kitchen for cooking activities such as making pizzas. We offer different fun activities, which include day trips away and regular discos. There is also an outside summer programme during the school holidays. The Project is run by volunteers, so we are always on the look out for new volunteers.

Experience required

Experience working with young people would be useful, however someone who has no experience but has a motivation to support young people will also be considered. Skills required are: good communication skills, patience, team worker, a non-judgemental approach, caring personality, honest, reliable and responsible.

Travel details

The KYP building is in the centre of Kirriemuir, on the Glengate, at the top of Tannage Brae. It is also just a short walk from the main bus stop in the Square.

Frequency & commitment
The opening hours depend on how many volunteers we have available, so this can vary. Currently, we are open most Wednesday and Thursday evenings 6.30-8.30 pm. In addition to this there are occasional discos on Friday evenings. During the summer holidays there are opportunities to volunteer during the day.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
