Community group volunteer for Rosyth Garden Group

This role will directly support people living with dementia who attend Alzheimer Scotland’s local weekly Garden group in Rosyth alongside their staff team. You will be part of a small team offering person centred, individualised support that meets the needs of each person who attends. The group enjoy doing garden tasks, having a refreshment and biscuits and a blether.

The volunteer will:

-Enable individuals to meet with others with similar interests
-Communicate with people with dementia, family members and staff within the community group setting
-Attend training to be informed about dementia and to attend any other necessary training relevant to volunteering role
-Carry out any other reasonable duties within the group


Experience required

As a volunteer with Alzheimer Scotland, you should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to recognise and respect the rich diversity that exists within our communities, views, attitudes and lifestyles. You will be committed to Alzheimer Scotland’s values, and willing to follow guidance, feedback and implement changes where necessary.

Travel details

The group takes place in the Community Garden in Rosyth (117-119 Park Road, KY11 2QT) on a Tuesday morning from 10 am to 12 noon. Parking is available on street parking, there is a public bus service in the area too.

Travel expenses

Mileage is 45p per mile and would be paid up to 5 miles per round trip on a monthly basis.

They will pay public transport expenses as long as the volunteer keeps the receipts. They will pay fuel mileage (45 p per mile) when the volunteer uses their own vehicle. These will be reimbursed monthly. This will be processed by the Volunteer Co-Ordinator.

Support
Training details

The volunteer with have a volunteer induction training session with the Volunteer Co-Ordinator before they join the Community Garden Group. Then ongoing training relevant to the volunteer role and corporate policies e.g. Dementia Friends training; Brain Health training etc.
