Supporting You at Home Befriending Volunteer

Make a real difference to older people in your area! Support someone to make the most of life; find out what things could improve their life, and support them to take positive steps towards those things - improving their confidence, reducing their isolation, and helping them stay connected to their communities. You can help by accompanying them to a favourite club, helping them try different activities and make new friends, supporting their mobility and building up their strength again, or just dropping in for a cuppa and a chat - whatever it takes to make their day! You'll build relationships with the people you visit, something that's rewarding for you and the people you spend time with. This is a purely social role; no personal care is involved. You'll get all relevant training, all travel expenses are reimbursed, and you will be welcomed and supported by a friendly, local team.

Experience required

A friendly personality, patience, empathy and good communication skills are necessary. You must be reliable, have the ability to maintain confidentiality, and be able to volunteer independently (with support from the Supporting You at Home project coordinator).

Travel details

The Supporting You at Home befriending project covers the East Neuk of Fife, from Elie and all the villages up to Crail. Our Volunteers use their own cars or public transport (travel expenses are reimbursed) to travel around the area.

Travel expenses

Yes, we reimburse all travel expenses whether using public transport or your own vehicle, and expenses can be claimed and paid on a weekly or monthly basis according to your preference.
