Volunteer Opportunity as a Treasurer: Join the Board of Trustees at Common Thread Vision (CTV)

Are you passionate about supporting the elderly community and making a meaningful impact in Glasgow? Common Thread Vision (CTV) is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of our work.

About CTV
CTV exists to promote equal opportunities for elderly community members by improving access to health, well-being, and creative activities, including arts and crafts. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for older adults in Glasgow by:
-Reducing loneliness and isolation
-Encouraging independence and well-being
-Providing engaging community activities

We Need a Treasurer!
We are urgently seeking a Treasurer to manage our accounts and spreadsheets, ensuring the financial health of CTV. If you have financial experience or an interest in managing budgets, we’d love to hear from you!


What We’re Looking For
We welcome committed individuals from all backgrounds who are keen to help CTV grow within Pollokshields. Our goal is to reflect the diversity of our community within our Board.


Your Role as a Trustee
-Attend 8 board meetings per year (one every 6 weeks, lasting around 2 hours).
-Support and oversee the development of CTV in line with its charitable objectives.
-Act in the best interest of CTV and its service users.
-Live within Pollokshields or surrounding areas.
-Location: Pollokshields Community Centre


About the Treasurer Role
As Treasurer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of CTV. Your key responsibilities will include:


-Managing the organisation’s accounts and keeping financial records up to date.
-Preparing and monitoring budgets to support the sustainability of our services.
-Presenting financial reports at Board meetings in a clear and accessible way.
-Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and charity governance.
-Supporting fundraising and grant applications with financial insight.
-Advising the Board on financial planning and risk management.

Experience required

Financial & Accounting Knowledge – Experience in finance, bookkeeping, or accountancy is essential to manage the organisation’s accounts effectively.
Commitment to CTV’s Mission – A strong belief in supporting the elderly community and aligning with the organisation’s goals and values.
Time & Dedication – Willingness to commit the necessary time for board meetings, financial oversight, and strategic planning.
Analytical Thinking & Decision-Making – Ability to review financial data, think crit

Travel details

A 10-minute walk from Shields Road Underground Station and also a 10-minute walk from Pollokshaws Road, where multiple buses run regular services.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
