Volunteer Cycling Support – Help Make a Difference with Flourish House

Are you passionate about cycling, the outdoors, and supporting mental health recovery in your community? Flourish House is looking for a Cycling Support Volunteer to join our friendly team and help lead inclusive, local bike rides that promote wellbeing, confidence, and social connection.

About Us
Flourish House is a mental health charity based in Glasgow, committed to supporting individuals in their recovery through meaningful activity, community, and inclusion. You can learn more about our work at www.flourishhouse.org.uk.

The Volunteer Role
We’re looking for a confident and competent cyclist to assist with our fortnightly group rides. You’ll join a welcoming and experienced team that will ensure you feel supported every step of the way.

Time Commitment:

-2 hours every second Monday at 1:30 pm
-Ideally for a 4-month period (approximately 8 rides)

Your role will include:
-Riding at the back of the group to provide encouragement and ensure everyone stays together
-Supporting our members (adults recovering from mental health challenges) in a calm, friendly, and non-judgmental way
-Engaging in conversation, helping build confidence, and contributing to a fun, relaxed environment

You’ll be fully supported by Flourish House staff, including an induction, a named point of contact, and ongoing guidance to help you feel confident and valued in your role.

These are not strenuous rides – we use local parks and cycle paths, always include a stop for a chat, and the pace is set to meet the needs of our participants.

This role requires PVG membership for working with protected adults, which Flourish House will arrange and cover the cost for if you are not already a member.

Interested in this role?
-Click the ‘Apply’ button below (you’ll need to be logged in and registered first). The coordinator will be in touch with you by email or phone.

-If you haven’t heard anything within 5 working days:

-Check your junk/spam email folder—sometimes replies end up there

-Try contacting the organisation directly using the contact details provided

-Still no luck? Feel free to get in touch with Volunteer Glasgow at info@volunteerglasgow.org

Experience required

You don’t need previous experience of mental health support — just a positive attitude and an enthusiasm for cycling and community wellbeing.
-Confident cyclist with your own bike
-Friendly, encouraging, and reliable
-Able to cycle to the starting point (accessible via local routes)
-Cycle ride leader qualification (useful but not required)
-A sense of humour and positive outlook

Travel details

You'll need to cycle here with your bike - local cycle paths are available.

We are committed to ensuring that volunteering with us is accessible to everyone. While we provide a free lunch before each ride, we also reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred during your volunteering activities, such as travel costs, upon submission of receipts.
